February 7, 2007 we take a road trip down I-35 , actually we head down 183 and 21 to San Marcos and then I-35 to New Braunfels. New Braunfels is a unique German community in Texas .Also referred to as city of a prince.
Our first stop was in the middle of town by the town square.

Off to the right of the picture is the Court House and it looks like the red cross office is there also.

I turn around and the is a bakery an next to it is a building
with a large mural on it.

The Bakery

Naegelin's
Bakery in New Braunfels turns 132 years old this year, being the oldest
continuously operating bakery in the state of Texas. The fresh cookies,
pastries, pies and cakes from the family-run bakery are of historic proportions
and a time-less quality.
"It's all in the preparation." The Granzin family still uses recipes developed
by the Naegelin family during more than a century of experimentation to get just
the right ingredients.
As you walk into the front door of the bakery the sweet smell of baked foods
engulfs you like a warm blanket. The glass cases are full of what seems like an
almost endless array and rainbow of cookies and pastries.
The bakery is still famous for their strudels that Naegelin perfected years
ago. The Granzin's have added terrific sausage kolaches to the menu of fruit
filled ones. A popular favorite is the Lebkuche, a thick, rectangular brown
cookie covered with pink

A couple blocks away is another couple murals.

At the corner I take a shot to thright and left on the second picture you will see the town square again.

On our way back up I-35 we stopped at two large outlet malls, at the far end of one mall are very high end stores Neman marcus and the like. Anyway there is a hamburger joint called Johnny Rockets, we stopped in and ate there we had just finished eating and the song came on "Let's Dance" and all the workers came out front of the counter and did a nice line dance for the crowd.
