FULLTIME RV

The Real Start

Although our house was sold and we started living in our RV in May our real lifestyle change didn’t start until we headed south. Our first stop was not planned but we realized we passing close to the ‘Little Brown church in the vale”, the very church that we were married in on May 29, 1970. It seamed most appropriate to stop and spend a little time there as we start  yet another chapter in our life together.

The Little Brown Church is located in North Central Iowa.

"LET ME LIVE BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND BE A FRIEND TO MAN"  The quote on the steps.

Our next stop was the Amana Colonies, where we  stayed at the campground and participated in a arts and craft show there.

The next stop  was Lake of the Ozarks which ended up being a real event  as the campground ended up at the bottom of steep mile long rock road . We needed to use 4-wheel drive in low gear to get back out of the campground when it was time to leave. ( Sorry no pictures here ).

The Stage Stop Campground at Neosho MO. became our next stop. The next morning I took the truck into the Dodge dealer  to hopefully find the cause of some noise we were hearing from the truck. The idler pully was replaced but shortly after leaving the shop the noise returned. Having not found the real cause there was no sence in returning there.

So  the next morning we were down the road.

Bartlesville, OK became our next temporary home for a few days as the next Monday I wanted to have a transmission man check out the truck. While at Bartlesville we went site seeing to the town just north a few miles called Dewey the home of Tom Mix . (Dewey). Monday I went to see Andy at Andy's Transmission we took the truck for a road test NO NOISE NOTHING TO FIX.

So were down the road again and the noise comes back.

Our next night was at the ( Double D ) Campground in Texola, OK., a small little campground just off the highway not much more than just a place to stay the night.

Tucumcari, NM , (Cactus RV) on Route 66 beacme our next stop. An interesting spot to say the least, the area appears to be very depressed as most everything was in ill repair.

Aaaah Finally Albuquerque, actually Bernalillo, NM . the Coronado campground at the Coronado Monument State Park. (The Coronado Monument )The next morning I take the truck to Nationwide Transmission. big trouble was found, brake work and transfer case work.

The truck went in on Friday and we didn't get it back until Tuesday. Boy was it expensive. Oh well it will do the job now. Tuesday afternoon Sparky got sick and kept us up most of the night. We had to take him to the Vet Wednesday. He had to stay overnight.

Thursday we went into "Old Town" Albuquerque and spent a couple hours before we heard from the Vet. We ended up taking some food to the vet for sparky, waiting a couple hours and then taking sparky home along with a bunch of medication. He was in good shape by friday and back to himself by saturday and back on his regular food by monday.

Friday we had to take the trip up the Sandia Peak by the Tramway I took pictures until the batteries went dead after six shots. (Tramway)
